Independent market research

Evidence before
conviction.

Consultancy Research International is an independent research firm. We design and run custom research programmes for organisations that need an impartial view of their market before they commit to a decision.

Who we are

A research firm built around primary evidence.

Most market intelligence is recycled. Desk research, vendor reports and industry consensus describe what a market already believes — rarely what is actually happening inside it.

Consultancy Research International works the other way round. Every engagement begins with the commercial question, and the research is designed specifically to answer it — quantitative surveys, qualitative interviews, structured data collection and analysis of the underlying numbers. We test what we find against the published record, and hand back an evidence base that can be defended.

We are independent. We do not sell software, we take no position in the markets we study, and we are not paid by the companies we research. Our only product is the quality of the evidence.

Capabilities

Four ways we put evidence in front of a decision.

01

Market research & analysis

An independent read on a market: how large it is, how it is changing, who competes in it, and where demand is actually coming from.

  • Market sizing and segmentation
  • Demand drivers and growth outlook
  • Competitive landscape and positioning
  • Pricing and customer behaviour
02

Market entry & assessment

An evidence base for a market not yet operated in — whether the opportunity is real, what it is worth, and what reaching it would require.

  • Opportunity sizing and prioritisation
  • Route to market and channel structures
  • Regulatory and operating requirements
  • Barriers to entry and likely competitive response
03

Business expansion

Where to grow next, and on what evidence. New territories, new segments and new propositions, assessed before the commitment is made.

  • Geographic expansion assessment
  • New segment and proposition testing
  • Channel and partner evaluation
  • Demand and capacity planning
04

Strategy & growth advisory

Where the evidence points to a decision, we help make it — positioning, pricing and portfolio choices grounded in the research rather than in a template.

  • Positioning and proposition design
  • Pricing and commercial model design
  • Portfolio and adjacency prioritisation
  • Growth planning and prioritisation

How we work

A method designed to be audited.

Every engagement runs the same four stages. Every conclusion traces back to a source record a client can inspect. If we cannot evidence it, it does not go in the report.

Discuss a brief
  1. Frame the commercial question

We convert a broad request into a written research question with defined decision thresholds, so both sides know what an answer looks like before work begins.

  2. Design the research and define the sample

Method, sample and instrument are specified before any collection begins, so the evidence base is built to answer the question rather than assembled from whatever was easiest to reach.

  3. Collect and triangulate

Quantitative and qualitative work run in parallel and are cross-checked against published data. Where sources disagree, we report the disagreement rather than averaging it away.

  4. Deliver with a clear line of sight

Findings arrive as a defensible argument: the conclusion, the confidence attached to it, the evidence behind it, and what would need to be true for it to be wrong.

Sectors

Depth where it changes the answer.

We maintain standing coverage across eight sectors. Coverage in each is continuous, so a brief in a familiar category starts from an established base rather than from scratch.

01

Industrials & Manufacturing

Capital equipment, automation, aftermarket services, supply chain resilience and reshoring economics.

02

Healthcare & Life Sciences

Provider economics, payer dynamics, medtech adoption curves, pharma services and reimbursement risk.

03

Technology & Software

Enterprise buying behaviour, retention and expansion economics, category consolidation and pricing power.

04

Financial Services

Distribution economics, regulatory change, infrastructure providers and non-bank credit formation.

05

Consumer & Retail

Category demand, channel shift, private label pressure, brand equity and elasticity under inflation.

06

Energy & Transition

Generation and grid economics, transition technology adoption, policy exposure and offtake structures.

07

Business Services

Outsourced services, compliance-driven demand, labour supply constraints and roll-up dynamics.

08

Transport & Logistics

Freight rate formation, network economics, last-mile structures and capacity cycle positioning.

Why sample design beats sample size

A sample drawn from the wrong population is not more reliable for being larger, only more confident. A short note on how we specify one.

Most engagements begin with a thirty-minute scoping conversation. There is no charge for it, and no obligation to proceed.
